My Little Pony

Nel requested MLP amigurumi. So I we did some image searching and settled for one particular pattern, and this is what came out of it. The original pattern included Applejack, Rarity and Rainbow Dash. so I expanded the collection to Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie. We also needed Spike the Dragon so I found a pattern for a small dragon and adjusted the colours to make it look like Spike. We also made a custom colours pony we called Cookie Pony, followed by a unicorn and few others.

First steps

The journey has begun. February 2021. Still in lockdown so good opportunity to kill the time being stuck at home most of the time. Maya showed interest in her aunt doing some random crocheting and decided she wants to try herself. I knew some basics myself and also decided it’s a good idea to expand the skill. So online shopping for the win again – we purchased variety of crochet hooks and some yarns and the journey had begun.

First challenge was to learn stitches and how to read the crochet/amigurumi patterns. Learning from mistakes we mastered the skill of deciphering the patterns pretty quickly.

I started with a simple pattern for a yellow chicken using some basic acrylic yarn we had at home already.

Maya’s first own amigurumi creation was a mini whale.

We have researched lots of ideas on Pinterest, YouTube and online, used plenty of free patterns available online; we mastered reading the patterns and also create our own patterns for things we can’t find patterns for. We have been making lots of creations improvising ourselves to get to the result we wanted. Maya creates things/animals/dolls by looking at things and recreating them to be amigurumi.

If there is a specific thing you are after, we can make it 🙂
